Present, Glasgow, Scotland

Currently an Environmental Clerk of Works (ECoW) and Ecologist for an amazing small/medium company based in Glasgow.

Recent Maters postgraduate student at the The University of Salford, whilst working full time.  Here I worked alongside the Natural History Museum, London (NHM), South African National Biodiversity Institute (SNABI) and Port Elizabeth Museum (Bayworld), South Africa.

My aim was to elucidate the cryptic diversity within a genus of frog, Arthroleptis from the ‘sky island’ forests in Mozambique by using a multi-disciplinary approach.

My supervisor, Robert Jehle, secondary supervisor, Robin Beck with a partnership with the Natural History Museum of London's Simon Loader and Gabriella Bittencourt-Silva.

My Undergraduate degree was completed in 2018 - A First Class Honours  in Wildlife and Practical Conservation from The University of Salford.  Here I too received the Oxford University Press award for my dedication, passion and commitment to the course.

Jane Goodall Volunteering Society

One of my proudest moments was being able to set up the society and meet Jane Goodall more than once, representing The University of Salford.

We won an award for our dedication to helping the environment, people and animals, and in particular, raising more than £10 000 for the animal rescue in Zimbabwe and saving it from closure.

Early days in Mutare, Zimbabwe, Africa:

Started off at a young age caring for both wild and domestic animals.  As you can see in the photo to the left, me with a rescue vervet monkey, Choko and a rescue dog, Scruffy. I was know as the "bird girl" in town as I hand reared, rescued and released birds.

I became a volunteer at the SPCA Mutare at the young age of 10yrs old where I helped with hands on husbandry and socialising to now managing the website and fundraising initiatives.

I also volunteered as a Zoologists Assistant and at the Mutare SPCA from the age of 10 to 17yrs old. Here, I was responsible for caring after the live specimens of birds, snakes, terrapins, fish and rodents. The most random animal I cared for during my time here was a white backed vulture that was injured. He was rehabilitated and released. I also assisted in small taxidermy projects, specimen record keeping along with managing the Junior Museum Club on Friday afternoons. Here, I taught school children animal identification and ecologies.

Volunteered at an animal rescue in Manchester, UK - The Society for Abandoned Animals also known as, Peggy Hendersons, the late founder.

Here, I started off on the fundraising team on Thursdays for just over a year, late to be offered a role as a Volunteer Co-ordinator. This included:
Volunteer recruitment

Animal husbandry of cats, dogs and rabbits

Medicating animals

Rehoming and home checks

Obedience training for dogs

Admission health checks of animals

Dealing with cruelty cases

Planning and executing fundraising events and much much more.

After a year, I was promoted to the Sanctuary Manager.

This included:  All of the above with the addition of accounting, legal bits, HR, banking, business forecasting, budgeting, planning, maintenance, complaints, praise, marketing, school presentations, group talks and again, so much more.

Here I implemented alternative therapies to help the socialisation of the animals such as Reiki and the Balance Procedure.  I also encouraged people with disabilities to visit and socialise with the animals as both benefit.
